Signs You Might Need a Dental Prosthetic

A few common signs are worth paying attention to. If any of these sound familiar, it’s worth having a look.

Trouble Chewing Certain Foods

Food that's suddenly hard to chew on one side, or foods you've started avoiding altogether, can point to a missing or damaged tooth.

A Tooth Feeling Loose or Shifting

Teeth can drift or loosen when there's a gap nearby, even if the gap itself doesn't bother you day to day.

Discomfort From an Existing Appliance

Rubbing, slipping, or a nagging ache from something you've worn for years usually means it's due for a look, not something to push through.

Noticing Changes in Your Smile or Speech

A gap, a shifted bite, or a slight change in how words come out can be easy to miss day to day but noticeable once you look for it.

Issues Dental Prosthetics Help Fix

Here are some of the most common problems our modern dental prosthetics in Avondale can address. If any of this sounds familiar, we’re happy to take a look.

A Missing or Extracted Tooth

A crown-and-bridge or a permanently anchored option fills the gap, so nearby teeth don't shift into the space.

A Loose or Ill-Fitting Removable Appliance

A reline, adjustment, or a more securely anchored option can replace one that slips or no longer feels secure.

A Cracked or Failing Crown or Bridge

An older crown or bridge that's worn out or has become loose can usually be replaced with a new, better-fitting one.

Bite and Chewing Problems

Missing or damaged teeth can throw off your bite; a well-fitted prosthesis helps restore even, comfortable chewing.

What to Expect During Your Dental Prosthetics Process

1

Consultation and Exam

We review your dental history, examine the affected teeth or gums, and discuss which type of prosthetic fits your case.

2

Impressions and Planning

We take digital scans or impressions and plan the shape, size, and fit of your new prosthesis.

3

Fabrication of Your Prosthesis

Your crown, bridge, or other custom restoration is built to match your bite and surrounding teeth.

4

Fitting and Adjustments

We fit the finished prosthesis and make any adjustments needed for comfort and a natural bite.

5

Follow-Up and Long-Term Care

We check the fit again after you've worn it a while and address any spots that need further adjustment.

What We Offer for Missing or Damaged Teeth

We offer various types of dental prosthetics to make our treatments fit what you actually need:

Porcelain Crowns

We rebuild a damaged or weakened tooth with a porcelain crown shaped to match your natural bite and smile.

Fixed Bridges

We anchor a fixed bridge to the teeth on either side of a gap to replace one or more missing teeth in a row.

Same-Day Crowns (CEREC)

For a single damaged tooth, we can often design, mill, and place a custom ceramic crown in one visit , without a temporary.

Full-Arch Replacement Teeth

We replace a full arch of missing teeth with a complete denture built for a comfortable, natural-looking fit.

Anchored Prosthetics

We stabilize a crown, bridge, or removable option with dental implants , so it typically stays secure instead of shifting while you eat or talk.

Repair and Adjustment Services

We repair, reline, or adjust an existing prosthetic that's no longer fitting the way it used to.

Caring for Your Dental Prosthesis

How you care for a new crown, bridge, or removable prosthesis during the adjustment period and afterward affects how long it lasts. Here’s what we recommend at each stage.

So like many (or maybe it’s just me) the dentist is always hard to go to because I don’t like needles. But I will say my experience from being greeted walking through the door to meeting my doctor and my service was one that has changed my perspective and I might have found a new home dental care. I went in through a suggestion from a friend and I am SO SO THANKFUL Dr. Ermias Mehretab. Everything thing he did he greeted me, explained what we were going to do next, and honestly I HATE needles but he truly had a soft touch and it felt effortless but allowed me to relax a lot more. Also his dental assistant for my time, Maria kept checking on me and brought me water and explained all to me before I left payment wise. Just great Overall great experince, love it and will be going back!

FAQs

What is a dental prosthesis?

It's a custom-made replacement for a missing or damaged tooth, such as a crown, bridge, removable appliance, or permanently anchored restoration.

Timing varies by type. A crown can often be completed in one or two visits, while a bridge or removable appliance usually takes a few weeks for fabrication and fitting.

With proper care, a crown or bridge typically lasts 10 to 15 years, and a well-maintained removable appliance often lasts 5 to 10 years before it needs relining or replacing.

Cost depends on the type of restoration, the materials used, and whether a jawbone-anchored option is involved. We'll give you a full estimate after your exam.

Coverage varies by plan; we'll confirm your specific benefits before starting.

It depends on the case. Bring your child in for an exam, and we'll let you know what options make sense.

Nearby teeth can shift, your bite can change, and the jawbone beneath the gap tends to shrink over time.
