What is the Main Goal of Pediatric Dentistry?

The main goal is to maintain and improve children’s oral health. This includes preventive care, early detection, and treatment of dental issues. Pediatric dentists aim to create a positive dental experience for children and foster good oral hygiene habits that last a lifetime.

When to Go to a Pediatric Dentist?

The general recommendation says that children visit a pediatric dentist by their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth coming in. Children’s routine check-ups should continue every six months to monitor development and address any concerns early.

    What is Geriatric Dentistry?

The geriatric dentistry definition focuses on the dental care needs of older adults. This type of dentistry addresses the complex geriatric dentistry issues that come with aging, such as tooth decay, gum disease, and tooth loss.

What are the Objectives of Geriatric Dentistry?

The primary goals of elderly dental care are to preserve natural teeth, maintain oral function, and enhance the quality of life for elderly patients. Pediatric dentistry treatment planning involves preventive care, treatment of dental diseases, and rehabilitation of oral health.

What is the Role of a Geriatric Dentist?

A geriatric dentist is responsible for diagnosing, preventing, and treating dental problems in older adults. They provide tailored care to manage age-related dental issues, ensuring comfort and functionality.

When to Go to a Geriatric Dentist?

Older adults should visit a geriatric dentist if they notice changes in their teeth or oral health, such as tooth pain, gum disease, or difficulty chewing. Regular check-ups are also important to maintain oral health at one age.

    Geriatric Dentistry Treatment Types

Various geriatric dentistry specialty treatments offer:

    • Tooth Restorations and Replacements: They include fixing damaged teeth or replacing missing teeth with crowns, bridges, or implants to restore function and beauty.
    • Denture Fittings and Adjustments: Custom-made dentures help seniors improve chewing, speaking, and overall comfort. Regular adjustments ensure they fit well and function correctly.
    • Treatment for Dry Mouth and Gum Disease: Managing dry mouth helps prevent decay and pain, while treating gum disease prevents tooth loss and maintains overall oral health.
    • Oral Cancer Screenings: Regular cancer screenings detect early signs of oral cancer and allow for immediate treatment and better outcomes.

So like many (or maybe it’s just me) the dentist is always hard to go to because I don’t like needles. But I will say my experience from being greeted walking through the door to meeting my doctor and my service was one that has changed my perspective and I might have found a new home dental care. I went in through a suggestion from a friend and I am SO SO THANKFUL Dr. Ermias Mehretab. Everything thing he did he greeted me, explained what we were going to do next, and honestly I HATE needles but he truly had a soft touch and it felt effortless but allowed me to relax a lot more. Also his dental assistant for my time, Maria kept checking on me and brought me water and explained all to me before I left payment wise. Just great Overall great experince, love it and will be going back!

    Pediatric Dentistry Treatment Types

Pediatric dentistry provides a range of treatments, such as:

    • Regular Dental Check-ups and Cleanings: Early visits help our dentists monitor your child’s oral health, prevent cavities, and keep your child’s teeth and gums clean and healthy.
    • Fluoride Treatments and Dental Sealants: Fluoride helps to reinforce tooth enamel. Also, sealants protect the chewing surfaces of back teeth from decay.
    • Cavity Fillings and Extractions: Taking care of cavities restores damaged teeth, and tooth extractions remove teeth that are beyond repair or causing overcrowding.
    • Orthodontic Evaluations: Early examinations detect alignment issues and determine if your child may need braces or other orthodontic treatments in the future.

The pediatric dentist cost without insurance can vary depending on factors like the specific treatment and the child’s needs.
