When Should Your Child See a Dentist?

Here are some signs your child may need to see a pediatric dentist nearby:

Toothache or Sensitivity

Your child complains of tooth pain or seems sensitive to hot, cold, or sweet foods.

Decay

Dark Spots or Holes

You notice dark spots, holes, or other visible damage on one of your child's teeth.

Gums

Swollen or Bleeding Gums

Your child's gums look swollen, red, or bleed when brushing.

Injury or Habits

Injury or Ongoing Habits

Your child chipped or knocked out a tooth, or still sucks their thumb or uses a pacifier past the toddler years.

Insurance Accepted

We accept most major insurance plans, including Cigna, MetLife, Aetna, Guardian, Principal, United Concordia Dental, and Delta Dental.

Technology and Comfort

Gentle Technology for Young Patients

We use imaging and treatment options chosen with kids in mind, so visits stay comfortable and low-stress.

Digital X-Rays

Digital X-rays use a lower dose than traditional film and let us check tooth development without unnecessary imaging, only when it's actually needed.

Drill-Free Dentistry

For many cavities, we offer drill-free treatment options, a quieter, gentler way to treat decay without the sound or sensation kids often dread.

So like many (or maybe it’s just me) the dentist is always hard to go to because I don’t like needles. But I will say my experience from being greeted walking through the door to meeting my doctor and my service was one that has changed my perspective and I might have found a new home dental care. I went in through a suggestion from a friend and I am SO SO THANKFUL Dr. Ermias Mehretab. Everything thing he did he greeted me, explained what we were going to do next, and honestly I HATE needles but he truly had a soft touch and it felt effortless but allowed me to relax a lot more. Also his dental assistant for my time, Maria kept checking on me and brought me water and explained all to me before I left payment wise. Just great Overall great experince, love it and will be going back!

Really good place to go if you need any type of dental work. The front and back office people are really friendly and nice. You will be in good hand with them. Definitely will be coming back every year.
Q&A

FAQs

FAQs should answer the blockers that prevent a patient from booking: pain, appointment timing, cost, insurance, recovery, procedure safety, and whether the service is right for them.
When should my child's first dental visit be?

By their first birthday, or within six months of their first tooth coming in, whichever comes first.

Teething is when a baby's first teeth break through the gums. It usually starts around 6 months and can cause fussiness, drooling, and sore gums.

Yes. Baby teeth still need fillings when decayed, since they hold space for permanent teeth and support chewing and speech.

Call us right away. We offer same-day appointments for dental injuries and can advise you on what to do until you arrive.

Generally every six months, though we may recommend more frequent visits depending on your child's needs.

Dental sealants are a thin coating applied to the back teeth to help protect them from decay. They're a simple, painless way to add extra cavity protection for kids.

Since we already see patients of all ages, most families simply continue seeing us as their child grows into adulthood.
